Advice on Toddler Biting in Daycare

I did not see the original post but I will tell you our situation. My oldest started daycare when she was 1.  At about 18 monthes she moved to the next class, when they were going outside they had to line up.  When ever she would line up she would bite the kid in front of her.  They would discipline with time outs.  I met with the teacher to discuss the problem and we noticed a pattern.  Before going outside they had to put any comfort items in their cubbies, then line up.  Sarah was very attached to her blanket but she would put it away, then she would bite.  We found that if they let her hold onto her blanket until she went out the door she was fine.  Sometimes she would bite her blanket but that was better then the person in front of her.   We figured she did not know how to deal with her feeling so she was acting out excitement, fear, anxiety, etc by biting. Once she had her blanket she could bite that and eventually she stopped biting altogether.   Hope this helps, Barb

This is not an easy situation to repair. There is much unsaid here. Children
