Cripes, you are stressed! You might wanna back off at work a bit. I’m just imagining what you kids have to deal with, given all of the stress that you are expressing, here. You have had Mel present some information virtually without sarcasm and *still* you go off at her as if *she* had done something wrong. Is recess almost over and it’s almost time for you to go back and sit quietly with the other kids, now? — Do not underestimate your abilities. That is your boss’s job. It is your job to find ways around your boss’s roadblocks.
Response:
Im not really on a crusade. I had posted this message to another newsgroup and one guy said that he went to the newsgroup and found, in his mind, NO child pornography and thus wouldn’t take any action against it. He said that he had viewed EVERY picture on the sight and had seen nothing other pictures of naked young boys – which he didn’t see pornographic. He told me to give him the names of posters who were posting the pornographic stuff. In order to verify this I went back and checked myself and of course did find the NG loaded with blatent child pornography not just nude pictures. In the course of doing so I also noticed that someone had posted pictures with a valid email address and I gave it to this guy. I do not want anyone to have to look at these siockening pictures except if they need to validate the existence of them so that they can report it to the authorities and/or take action against this crap in any way they see fit. I seriously hope you were not implying that I was going there for my own benefit. And to answer your question about why I’ve taken the steps I have and why I think it’s important – I saw the looks in the eyes of the kids in those pictures and, it bothered me.

Dorothy – there are a whole heap of people, all over the world, who volunteer their time to look for and report child pornography on the net. I am one of those people. Mark, OTOH, has come across a *tiny* corner of a worldwide problem, and thinks he can solve it by taking one simple step.. and he is not interested in being a part of the effort to solve the *larger* problem. There are sites all over the place that you can’t find just by doing a "child porn" search on any search engine. Quite a lot of them will be posted in newsgroups like alt.binaries.pictures.asparagus. I recently came across a site <in a newsgroup> that appears to be run BY teenagers – taking photos of themselves because they can make money out of it.. now that really is sad. One reason I would suggest that you go and take a look at this.. I did not wake up in the morning and think.. Hmm.. I’ve got a bit of spare time on my hands, I’ll just go and fight against child pornography, shall I? I got into this because of an argument.. someone said to me "The net is evil.. theres all kinds of child pornography on there" and I said "What a load of crap.. I’ve never come across any of it" When I did a search for it, I got nothing but sites that wanted to stop it, and as I read further into it, I decided I would like to be involved in helping to stop it. When I saw my very first example of child pornography, I felt ill, and I still keep feeling ill when I l come across it.. but my hope is, that I can be a part of stopping it, so my children never have to feel ill, and so my children are never in danger of being molested themselves. Thats a pretty big, grand kind of hope, but at least I am doing my bit towards making it a reality.. whereas Mark is going to just sit back and make speeches from on high. You know, one thing that disturbs me about this is that you are interested enough to keep going back and looking at this stuff yourself. Why do you want us to go and look at this? Dear Mark I would never email anyone acussing them of anything. How do you know it’s really him? He could be just using a real email adress that belongs to some else. My husband has a very simple email address and often gets hate mail, even though he never posts in any newsgroup. I see you are concrened about this issue how ever maybe your posts would be best suited in an anti-child porn newsgroup. If there isn’t already one you should make one. Point taken Glen. Yes – i have posted under different names too. You may be correct obviously – but I suspect that this is actually the real dude because all the other posts are from non-email addresses. Unless the poster really had it in for someone else (quite possible) he wouldn’t leave an email address at all. In either case a simple email with a request for pornography would probably reveal the guys true nature. Thank you for your illucidation (surprisingly without sarcasm!)

Mark, you might want to be a bit careful about the assumptions that you make. As you can tell by what I changed, here, anybody can look like anybody, and I didn’t change all that much. It is not uncommon for posters in those groups to use different, bogus or pirated email addresses. I’m not saying that this *is* what happened. I’m just suggesting that you appear to be so new to the net that you may not be aware of how esasy it is to make someone look like someone else. If you have made a mistake, just imagine how you will make the I’m leaving in my actial sig, just so that you can be comfortable that this post *isn’t* from you.
