– My oldest daughter has reactions like that to mosquito bites, too. I have always made a paste with baking soda (NOT powder) and covered the bite with it leave it on for an hour or so, cover with gauze or bandaid to prevent a mess. The soda seems to "pull" out the poison from the bite and the welt subsides. A doctor used this technique on me when I was a child and was stung by a wasp. My youngest sat on a wasp the other day and we did the soda paste thing to her and it worked great!!! You might also try Benadryl antihistamine cream Natalie

HI. My daughter (3 1/2) has the exact same reactions. Just recently, she had a bite on her foot that swelled so bad she couldn’t even wear her shoes!!. The pharmacist told me to use bendryl liquid. She gave me the proper dosage for my daughters weight and height. Worked very well without side effects. She has gotten biten since and when the bites swells to a point that we become concerned, we will then give her the medicine and a cool compress ( her bites tend to get hot to the touch). Otherwise, if its just a slight swelling, we leave it alone. Good luck! Aimee Mommy to Kayla (3-1-93) & Emily (4-7-95)

Kim… Just opinion and experience talking here, I’m not a doctor! Try an antihistamine like Benadryl, cream for right on the bite or oral tAblets. It’ll reduce the swelling and pressure (therefore irritation) at the site, so hopefully he’ll leave it alone :-] If it gets more red and infected looking, or doesn’t subside in a few days I would take him t a doctor.
