Question:
What is the best way to remove crayon marks from a wall? Thanks, Jamie
Response:
If it’s regular latex indoor wall paint try Formula 409 and a toothbrush. Worked so well for me I called Clorox and complimented them on it! They sent me a certificate for a free bottle of 409! Donna > What is the best way to remove crayon marks from a wall? > Thanks, > Jamie

I always use a little bit of baking soda on a wet cloth. It has gotten off all the crayon marks on the wall, and it’s a cheap an environmentally friendly abbrasive.:)

Our solution is to keep the original paint for the room handy and to touch up periodically. Well every couple of years anyway. Several people though swear by WD-40 to clean the crayon off the wall and then detergent to clean off the WD-40. -Troy

Simple Green (a cleaner sold in bulk concentrate form, also somewhat environmentally friendly) works well. Also – buy washable crayons

I found a product called Oil Eater, from Costco. In its undiluted strength, it takes crayon off quite well. Good luck! (BTW, I always start with the baking soda/water paste first.) Does anyone know a good way to get black crayon off light carpet? Using carpet stain removers, i have gotten most of it out, but still shows a little. BTW, she promises she will never do it again

Here’s my tip.. I remove crayon from carpet and upholstery by putting a few layers of clean, WHITE paper towels over the mark and blot with a warm (NOT hot!) iron. Replace towels as needed.

Diane; Someone else here already posted the tip on warm iron with paper towels (or blotting paper). If this doesn’t quite get it out, try some mineral spirits (varsol). Wet the cloth, wring it out, and blot on the area. ***Make sure you test this in an inconspicuous corner or underneath the nearest couch***! It won’t affect most colourfast carpets.
