I don’t know much about the legal view here, but I would certainly suspect that if the airline employer found out that one of their employees was "profiting on the side" from reselling their benefits in this manner, it would be out the door for them.

In CA it’s legal for adults to adopt adults.  No hassle with social workers, etc, but the petition does have to be approved by the courts. > Help !  Will some one claim my husband and me as parents?  I have two > daughters who used to work for the airlines, United and Eastern. In many, perhaps all, states, actually.  However, the sound of the post suggested a proposal of a rather more informal and fraudulent nature :-) . I note also that offer of financial inducement to the prospective adoptee is probably outside the law if you *are* considering the full petition.  Both for reasons of black-market adoption and circumvention of immigration laws, monetary exchange gets looked at rather carefully in these matters. I’ve got the ol’ UIUC degree on my wall, and I’m a cool-uniformed cockpit crew member. :)  ’Course I also had UIUC as my employer at various stages. I don’t think I’d make a good Queen, though. –Mark Rogers – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

oh I don’t know Mark. Let’s put you and DS in [insert your airline]’s uniform with appropriate stripes(does Queen rate 5 or 6 stripes, or does she just get like an Admiral’s shoulder boards with gold backing and little hearts or something?). I mean female flight crew that I’ve seen wear pants and shirts just like da boys. >–Mark Rogers

Who says FA?  I’m going straight for Queen, or at least some kind of cool-uniformed cockpit crew.  And these folks are not getting off with just state tuition–UIUC is my employer, not a conferrer of my degrees. My would-be parents should be happy I didn’t ask for replenishment of the graduate as well as undergraduate funding ;-) . When I lived in St. Paul and worked for a "small but lively" and very selective small liberal arts college I occasionally thought about a marriage of convenience with a NW employee with a system pass for dependents in exchange for free college tuition.  The problem is that when you work for those kinds of places, you don’t take enough time off.
