Sounds like a great idea!  When I first started searching for parenting newsgroups, I tried to find something devoted to SAHM without success. True, alt.parenting.solutions is a lovely group, but there is a lot to wade through every day. It would be nice to have a forum particularly geared toward the challenges of full-time "momhood".  Hope more folks respond! Elise K.  (SAHM to Asher -2, Skyler -1, & "Omega" -due 2/11/97) –all blissfully asleep right now! Georgia

Response:

I’m a mom of 3 that is interested in this kind of group too.  I am on AOL but I’m always looking for ways to simplify and organize my life.  Please email me if anything comes out of this.

Well, Guess what!    We found a home!!  Hope we don’t get into trouble for this, but we decided to stage a non-hostile takeover of an already established, but vacant newsgroup called alt.chaos!  Perfect name, since our mentors Pam and Peggy wrote in their book get your act together that many of us suffer from CHAOS which stands for "Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome".   So, come join us, any and all!!!  If your server doesn’t carry alt.chaos, ask them to, or use deja news – they have expanded their features.

Hello there, My name is DeAnna, and I am looking for a few other stay at home moms to share with.   I read Get your act together and Sidetracked home executives by Pam Young and Peggy Jones .  Anyway, I really don’t care to get into any heavy discussions regarding spanking… and other "political" subjects about being a parent, and I get tired of trying to filter through the endless arguing in these newsgroups!  So, i was wondering if we could get together and share/support eachother through the type of things that stay at home moms go through in our day-to-day experiences.  Working mothers are more than welcome, by the way! I just think there are a lot of issues that affect those of us who have given up our careers and a lot of outside social interaction to stay at home cleaning grape jellie out of carpet.;-].  Personally, I would love to chat with other moms who find themselves a little overwhelmed by the chaos and aren’t exactly the most organised…the, um, Martha Stewart NOT crowd who would like to have "all their ducks in a row", but find themselves chatting on the phone, or on the computer instead of cooking gourmet, healthy meals in their spottless kitchens while their non naked kids do craft projects… Anyway, if anyone is interested, either post here under this heading, or S.H.E. or, e-mail me.  AOL has a great board already organised, but I think we could do the same in a newsgroup… Thanks, and I hope to hear from ya!!! DeAnna

I found a link to their page on the internet… check it out if you think you may be interested Also, from now on, I will only be posting in the newsgroup alt.mothers, so if you want to join us, we’ll see ya there, or you can e-mail me! ;] http://www.columbian.com./ DeAnna Mommy to Jared 4, and Jonathan 3

Hello all, please bear with me, as I am posting my request to all of the NGs that seemed appropriate for finding my "targets", so I have recieved loads of e-mail expressing interest in such a group.  I am aware that there are many mailing lists out there, and I was hoping that by posting my message, I would be directed to one.  i am still hoping to hear from someone who may be able to do that.  I am afraid I wasn’t clear enough on the exact focus of my interest… There was a bit of "inside knowledge" regarding who I was speaking to..;-] The S.H.E. and "get your act together" authors Peggy Jones and Pam Young (sisters, who call themselves "the slob sisters") have created a bit of a following among, especially, stay-at-home moms…they give seminars throughout the country, are on TV programs, and are absolutely an answer to prayer for those of us who find ourselves to be disorganised, and embarrassed by the fact that we live in a state of what they call C.H.A.O.S. (Can’t have Anyone Over Syndrome! ;]  )  I wasn’t more specific in my posts because I was afraid of being accused of having some interest in promoting their business, (I don’t). On AOL, there is an entire group devoted to the get organised topic, and they all are familiar with the sisters and other "gurus" of the field.  The Reason why I mentioned them is because there is an *attitude* about them that I am looking for.  It is NOT a serious, political, or even necessarily a "mothering" focus.  It is more "running a household" topic, the Erma Bombeck style and subject matter.   So, while 99% of these women are stay-at-home moms or part-time career women, and much of the discussion includes our children, it is more a support group wherein we share our daily battles with trying to achieve a well-run, happy home while still finding time for being the SLOB (Sensitive, Lighthearted, Optimistic, and Beloved) that we were born to be. Anyway, AOL is more limited in its membership than NGs and much more inconvenient for me. ;].  so,,, I thought I’d see if there was any interest in it over here.   Sorry for the length of this note!!!, but I hope to hear from more of you with suggestions for how we can get together, or point me toward where you already are!!!  Thanks again, DeAnna
