How to get our 15mth.old to sleep

Question:

We have a 15mnth.old daughter, and she sleeps in her own crib in her own room; everything was O.K., pretty much, up until she started walking.  Now she just won’t want to sleep alone.  Many nights she’ll wake up 4-5 times, and last night she pretty much woke up every 1 1/2 hour.  She is also very stubburn, can never let her "cry to sleep", since that might take all night. Anybody have any suggestions? –anna

Response:

Your daughter is at an age where children often get anxious at night because they don’t really understand that morning will come and you will come back. Will she sleep if she is near you? If so try putting a spare bed in her room so when she wakes at night you can go and lie down near her. That way everyone gets some sleep and if you drop off to sleep yourself it won’t matter. Other suggestions about sleep in www.cyh.sa.gov.au in Parenting/Child Health. it sometimes takes a while but children do grow out of this stage. good luck with it. Pam
