Unless you circumcise for religious reasons, it is not "hundreds of years" of tradition. It’s not really a tradition at all. When I was born in 1940 only about half of the boys were circumcised. Chances are that both your grandfathers are intact.

Well, I think he was talking about "religious reasons". >Chances are that both your grandfathers are intact.

Yeah, males with nothing bloody better to worry about. If a little loss of sexual sensitivity was the biggest problem in my life, I’d be delirious with happiness. Yes, I’m circ’ed. Isn’t it? This circed male doesn’t give one rip that he’s circed, and quite frankly, doesn’t understand nor respect those that do – I think those people have much bigger psych problems than their circ status. > I don’t know any other species that dunks a kid underwater or pours > water over its head in some bizarre rite shortly after birth, so why do > we do *that*? I guess some people really, REALLY love a couple of square inches of skin. Jeez, get a graft if you feel that strongly about it….. If I have a boy, I think I’ll have him circed (I’ve never much thought about it one way or the other before) just because it’s soooo stuck in my mind now….. ;) Mike — From Seattle, WA – Seahawks, cinema, science and more at http://kohary.simplenet.com Seahawks: http://kohary.simplenet.com/hawks.htm Cinema: http://kohary.simplenet.com/movies.htm Science: http://kohary.simplenet.com/science.htm

Since I don’t recognize it as abuse of children – and neither does the law – it’s none of your damned business. Get a life. Mike P.S. Oh crap, I just responded to a circ thread. I wonder how many days I just added to the life of this thread? <snicker, snicker> The "Collective" is the procirc crowd who has their sons’ foreskins "assimilated" so that their sons can "look like" the rest of the circ’d collective. We did so with slavery…hallelujah! And slavery was condoned in the bible. And the "tradition" of male circumcision in America is *already* CHANGING. As evidenced by the fact that more and more parents *ARE NOT* choosing to continue this tradition and are leaving their sons intact. >Let it go.
Sure–just as soon as routine infant circ ceases to be…routine. :) >It’s none of your business.
Gee–and parents of several decades ago used to be able to beat their children under the umbrella of "discipline" and "none of your business". Now it’s deemed as "abuse" and even "the business of" neighbors and groups such as "Child Protective Agency". > If you don’t want your kids circumsized, don’t do it. Simple!

Sorry the message is lost on you–the issue is about the human rights to freedom of choice and to be able to make our own choices about our own bodies. > Is this something that goes on all the time in this ng? Am I really > going to have to dodge all of this useless information as it compounds? > Why would anyone care about whether your penis is circumsized? This is > stupid, people.
Many males are angry and care that their healthy normal penises were altered at birth. Thus the reason for this topic. Yep–yer right! Routine infant circumcision is stupid. > I don’t know any other species that dunks a kid underwater or pours > water over its head in some bizarre rite shortly after birth, so why do > we do *that*? BECAUSE OUR PARENTS DID IT. And so did their parents. > And their parents. And their parents. ALLOW IT.
And we used to own slaves–several thousand years worth of slavery–simply because that’s what we did. Now slavery is abolished. Parents who support female genital alterations have also "done it because our parents did it". Yet this is now banned here. Males deserve equal protection. Grace Boockholdt
