nailbiting and sore picking

Question:

Dear group,  I’m not sure if this has been discussed before but heres my story.  My daughter, who is ten, has  had a nailbiting problem since she was about six and for the last two has developed a habit of picking her scabs. The sores usually start out as a  mosquito bite or perhaps a small  scrape and then escalates as she picks off scab after scab not allowing the scab to heal for weeks at a time. We have talked about this problem together and my daughter is as distressed as we are. She can’t seem to stop herself. We try to keep bandaids on the sores but that doesn’t always work. We are all frustrated and sometimes frightened that she may never stop. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any Ideas? frustrated in Hawaii

You may be interested in checking out an interesting website which advertises a board game to help children towards positive behaviors. Sounds like it might be worth a try in your situation. The site is pcsconnections.com and it has a "Dr. Connections" to submit questions on parenting to. > Dear group, >  I’m not sure if this has been discussed before but heres my story.  My
