I spoke only to the narrow issue of ‘victory over public schools’. I had no such grand ambitions as to define a ’successful parent.’ I get enough flames for far less ambitious sorties. –Ed Dickerson Villages don’t raise people; people raise villages. My nine yr old came home from school complaining of problems  he was encountering on his school bus (to a public school)and in class with fellow classmates. He was very aggravated and spent about three weeks voicing his opinions. I, the teachers and the bus driver patiently listened and supported him. Finally on his own volition, he said " Mom, I think it’s time I solve this problem!! I am going in to school tomorrow and figure this out with the school counselor. He came home from school that day with a feeling of accomplishment – he solved his own  problem. Isn’t that what a school is all about?   Mom
