PARENT POLL: Baby's First Words

Question:

My son will be thirteen months on the 25 July and his first word was dadda, followed by mummy at maybe 7 or eight months.  Now all of a sudden he’s started repeating everything we say.   So far he says hi, doggy, car, potty, ejja which means come in Maltese, hanini which means sweetheat, and qalbi which means darling.   Oh the latest is baby. My daughter is 9 months old and says 3 words, Mama, Dada, and Kitty. Kitty applies to any furry 4-legged critter (dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.) but we know what she means. — Renee Axtell Harvey
