Question:
I’m writing a magazine article about denial and its impact on parenting. I’ve interviewed lots ofparents who were in denial about BIG things, like a kid’s serious illness. Now I’m looking for parents wo’d be willing to be interviewed about beign in denial about comparatively small things, e.g., your daughter had constant headaches and you didn’t listen until you realized she needed glasses, or your son complained about the way the kids on the bus were treating him and you were busy and told yourself it was nothing and then found out he was having a real problem with being teased about his weight. I’m hoping this article will be a help to parents, if for no other reason than that they’ll see that we all of us go into denial sometimes. Jeremy Alderson
Response:
Jeremy, None of us are in denial!
Sorry, I couldn’t resist! -A
