Six weeks?  Weeks?  Months? AJPDLA

Response:

Yes, she is, actually.  She’s showing how bad SOME parents can really be.  I think she’s doing a great job of it, too. AJPDLA

Response:

I noticed when I looked in the cupboard to get Patrick’s dinner last night that I look like I work for Heinz.  It’s all we have (besides the formula – oh no -awful Nestle/Carnation Good Start – lol). I think their stuff is better and much cheaper (at least where I am) then Gerbers. Couldn’t agree more, each child "is" different.  Which I’m definitely learning with my 2.  Lol. The above is TOTALLY worth requoting.  :)  On this we will agree. AJPDLA

Response:

I had that problem and resolved it by warming up the bottle nipple, they can’t tell the differerence. You have to persist a little but they’ll take it if they’re hungry. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >breast fed 4 month old will take baby rice made with formula. Response:

I think the Heinz is cheaper here too, mind you the boys are too old for cereal, and instead argue whether they want steak or spareribs for dinner!!!  I’m not sure what it costs now, but the Gerber was more expensive then.  But they were both fusspots about certain cereals and foods.  Now they eat just about anything!!!  Which is really nice since I am a really picky eater, and they’ll eat just about anything, even broccoli and cauliflower!!!!  YUCK!!! Funny how even at the youngest of ages their preferences show through!! I didn’t gain any sort of explanation or answer to the previous posting in this one, better try again. You were asked a solid question to which you avoided giving the answer. AJPDLA

You gotta just LOVE those attachment parenting fanatics. Are we coming off as a little holier than thou or what on this posting? AJPDLA

Response:

I have to agree with the cereals as well.  My youngest (who was formula fed) was on cereal at 4 mths.  He was always hungry, and the solids helped him not too have a bottle in his mouth every half hour.  He ate it all up and looked at the spoon for more!! Every child advances at his own rate, and the parents need to take the cues from him/her.  Many children are on cereal and formula here and there by this age.  I see no problem with what the parents are trying to do.  And Sarah is right, some kids are partial to certain brands and you should try out all of them. Both my boys were partial to the Heinz cereals and the Gerber foods. Response:

Well if Mom is going back to work, then I guess all you can do is keep trying different bottles and nipples.  I used Avent with my daughter and that was the only one she would take. If Mom is staying home, then stick with the breast and the food.  Sounds like a good combo to me. I had both my children on cereal at six weeks and they thrived on it. Too bad there are other little bitches in this group that don’t get the fact that all babies are different and keeping a tit in front of your babies face 24/7 is not always possible.  But that would be too much of a stretch for their narrow little minds. You are just proving my ongoing case of what’s wrong with this world.   You did more than "not sugar coat it", you were rude, insulting and judgemental.  Big difference.  We’ve all been that way at one point or another but when it’s pointed out we need to look at what was said and consider that it wasn’t the best way to say it. Response:

The baby just might not be ready for a cup yet. I started cereal at 4 months and they at first just kind of spitted it out because the thrusting they use to push it back in their throats is not mature yet, but that doesn’t mean you can not try. Just try little bits at a time. I started mine at about 6 months with a cup, because at that age, they are so interested in things and IMO at a very good age to start introducing new things. As far as not taking formula, some babies are opposed to this because they have been on the breast. Are you wanting to wean the baby from the breast? A little information about that and maybe we can help a bit more. Sue B.

Norma, What happened?  You used to be so nice.  You may call it being "honest".  I call it being rude, bitchy, and extremely judgmental. I used to agree with some things you said but I think it’s time to kill-file. Later, Sophie mom to Charlotte (22 months) and Patrick (6 months)

Poor widdle baby, can’t take it when the truth hits so close to home, can ya?

Response:

Feeding a four month old cereal is not bad parenting. That is when the docs say to introduce cereal. However, rice cereal would not be my first choice as it is constipating.
