Yes, we went through this with our daughter when we switched preschools last year.  She didn’t hit and bite, but she wasn’t *nice* to the other kids for quite awhile.  We switched her to this new preschool in December and by February, she seemed to be just fine.  I think there is just an adjustment period that they need to go through for awhile.  We have some friends who just moved here in November and their 3.5 year old is *still* having problems.  She’s okay at preschool, but when you get her around her friends alone, she’s very abusive towards them.  I think she’s going through an even bigger adjustment period having been moved from one state to another (with totally different climates, too!) You might want to check out "Raising your Spirited Child" by Mary Sheedy Kurchida (sp?).  It gives a lot of helpful pointer about dealing with behaviors we don’t necessarily understand…. Good luck! I have a extremely active 3 1/2 year old boy. My husband and I both work so he attends daycare every day from 8-5. He’s an only child and being relatively new to our area, we have but one set of friends that have a boy his age. At home he is fine, playing with our friends child he is fine, and dealing with his teachers on an individual level he is fine, but get him in a group with his class mates and the hitting, biting, and throwing toys begins. He knows he’s wrong and is apologetic afterwards but the damage is already done. Anybody else been through this? Suggestions on books, on-line info, anything greatly appreciated.
