Question:
Dear parents: I am a mother of a wonderful 1 1/2 year-old boy, and I am a graduate student in journalism at Columbia University in NYC. One of my assignments is to follow a newsgroup and then write an article on it. I am interested in this notion of preschool for toddlers. I live in a suburb of NYC where many parents feel they must enroll their child in preschool by age 2, or the child will fall behind. Socially. Intellectually. What are the reasons to enroll a child? What is the best age? What should preschool offer a child? When is a child ready? And if parents decide not to enroll the child in preschool, what is he missing? I’m 38 an in my childhood nobody I I knew went to school until 5, sometimes 4 (nursery school). Are parents more informed now or are they competitive and unimaginative? Please let me hear from you as soon as possible. I must turn in my story on Saturday. Thank you for your time.

Are you really interested in this topic, or are you more interested in your assignment? I have many comments, but don’t want to waste my time if you are just gathering data for a paper. Linda

: What is wrong with helping someone with their paper? Jen I think the deadline gives it away: looks to me as though this person might have waited until the last minute for the assignment.
