stuffy nose

Question:

"does anyone know how to tell a cold from allergies? Im pretty sure my 16 month old has a cold (day care woes).. but my grandmother is always on my back that is the cats..                        " Let me guess..the grandmother doesn’t like cats??? Do these symptoms sprout up at certain times of the year? Or of the day?? Is the child more uncomfortable when in close proximity to the animals? IS it an ongoing-can’t-get-rid-of-it cold???  I think answering these questions might help. Cheers,C

I have major allergies. Some of the differences: in allergies you have no fever, you have watery and itchy eyes, you sneeze several times in a row, it goes away when the allergen is gone. Colds are the opposite.

Try giving him a warm bath with Johnson and Johnsons Soothing Vapor Bath, then using a nasal aspirator. It works well for my daughter. Also consider it may not be a cold it may be allergy related. Kris Blackburn – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

Nathan my 7 month old is on day 14 of his cold. Went to the doctor at the end of last week..clear ears, throat, and lungs.  All the OTC meds I can find have the same ingredient and it hypes him up.  (Wish they made Nyquil for kids…all that alcohol would knock him out.)  He isn’t sleeping except in the car seat or swing for brief stretches because he cannot breathe. Tricks? Suggestions?  I have Vics on his chest and the vaporizer going….
