Question:
Congratulations on your bundles of joy! Wow! I hope you enjoy your children a great deal. Now, down to the nitty gritty. I have seen a couple posts responding to you that give marvelous advice I won’t reiterate [much]. I really second the comment about used clothing/consignment shops for clothes until children are slower at growing out of stuff you just bought. I have bought a whole season’s worth of clothes for my son for under $40. That made me feel real good and then the money was there for other stuff! I bought our [used] crib through the local Pennysaver [free] paper. It cost me $40 and I had to buy a new mattress as it did not have one. The crib was a jenny linde and you could not tell it had been used: it had been through three children before my son. So, scope out the papers for used furniture. Alot of babies do not exactly use their furniture hard! Also, there are support groups for parents of multiples in many areas of the country. Start asking around. Adoption agencies would probably be able to point you in the right direction on that one. I’ll bet many pediatricians could too. Good luck, and God bless, – Aula

Response:
First, congratulations on your new additions! One is a challenge…I can’t even begin to image the joys of two!!! I’m afraid I don’t have too much to offer in the way of web related sites. I can, however, give you a few hints from personal experience. Sam’s Club or other warehouse stores are probably the best source for diapers. I save roughly $6.00 per case when buying diapers there. An added plus is that you get more at once so you aren’t constantly running out. They are also a good place to pick up formula, if you choose to use it. I personally buy most of my son’s clothing at second hand stores. Babies grow so fast that you’re usually buying nearly new clothes anyway, at sometimes a third of the price. I love being able to walk out with a bag *full* for the same price I might have paid at the mall for one outfit. If you look carefully with an eye for safety, you can find a bonaza of baby furniture at thrift stores or local garage sales. Keep in mind all of the governmental safety regulations and look them over carefully for loose, broken, or missing pieces though. And lastly, if you have a Burlington Coat Factory near you, this is a wonderful store for nearly all of your baby needs. They carry everything from crib sets to books. Good luck! Hope I was able to help even a little. Amanda
