respect is not something that comes with money. I can find more bums who respect other people and their things more than rich people. that brings the question, who is the real bum? > If you’re looking for compassion, you should have stopped after > "somebody > hit my 4 month old Civic parked in front of my apartment, and ran > away." > But, it’s okay, because you just sound like a jackass and auto > insurance in > California is mandatory. > When you are hit with a $500 deductible out of the blue, try to keep > your cool. lots of bitter people. who gives a shit how he got the car, who gives a shit where he lives, who gives a shit if he pays for anything, the fact is, this is his car, it is his property, he has just as much right to it as I do my car. some people can’t respect that, some people don’t respect anything. some people are jackasses. this is the way the world works. you can’t box yourself off from them, and if you think that by living in a rich neighborhood you are sheilding yourself somehow you are only hiding behind false walls. rich people can be the most self centered people on the face of the earth, some of them will screw over anyone they can just because they don’t have things their way (hell in houston right now Chuck Watson, the owner of the IHL team is pissed because he isn’t being considered for helping with the new basketball arena, and he is doing everything in his power to see it go away, even if that means the Rockets leave houston). that said, some rich people are the nicest you will ever meet. money does not determine what kind of person you are, posesions don’t determine what kind of person you are. who you are is what determines that, no ammount of money can make someone respect others. I am sorry your car got fucked, just a month ago someone hit mine and ran, luckily someone that was smoking at the time saw it and wrote down the licence and gave it to me, so his insurance is covering the damage. it doesn’t piss me off at all that the guy hit my car, accidents happen, you can’t avoid them, but the fact that this guy was such a coward that he couldn’t face me and deal with it, his utter lack of respect, that pisses me off to no end. hell, I had stopped smoking a few weeks earlier, and I was so pissed I have started again, and once again I am on the road to quit… fucking assholes everywhere dude, you can’t outrun them, you just have to learn to live with them. — Sam Paragon Crushes flawed list club!! http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Halfpipe/9690/ Before you buy.

You know what, I’m not finished. If this guy had come in here and said something along the lines of "with all these affluent, white people…", I’m sure a lot more people would be a lot more riled up. But because he talked about economic status instead of a more popular, acceptable form of stereotyping, like race or gender, it’s okay to support him. And, btw… he never said how badly his car was hit.

typical rich folk reaction. i’ve heard cases where rich people take off from serious accidents. first thing they do when they get home is to call their lawyer to help fabricate a reason for leaving the accident scene. and to help fabricate a reason for causing the accident. i live near LA/Hollywood, so this is a very common thing. money, fame, and education doesn’t make a person more responsible. maybe you should move. apartment complexes have high rates of auto thefts, vandalism, and hit-n-runs. regardless of the social/economic status of the neighborhood. — rich – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > It finally happened, somebody hit my 4 month old Civic parked in front > of my apartment, and ran away. Oh wait wait… because I’m not rich, that automatically stereotypes me into the poor, welfare abusing genre. I get it… Well, I guess I should just go and sell my 99 Accord EX V6 cuz I don’t deserve to own it, not living in a posh neighborhood with decent, rich, well-educated people. Forget that I paid cash and didn’t take a loan or a lease on the car. Obviously I’m too poor and stupid to have that kind of money in the first place. I must have mugged some old lady in Hillsborough. That’s what poor people do, right? Talk about being a jerk, maybe if you ever lived in an underclass community before, you would understand… I’m not saying it doesn’t suck that the guy got his car messed up, but coming in here whining about it, and making a huge issue about class and how people in his upper class community should be expected to be decent, like this is some sort of acceptable behavior in lower class communities? And then you coming in and defending his opinions by using slurs like your welfare comment? If he can afford to live in an apartment in one of the Bay Area’s most expensive neighborhoods AND pay off a car, it’s not like he’s drowning in debt. Pay the $500 and deal.

No, that’s not how the world works. San Francisco and the Bay Area was a nice place, with nice courteous people. Then the rich and "well educated" started moving in in 1995. These people are the problem, not the solution. It may surprise you, but my experience has taught me that the nicest, most courteous, and most decent people usually aren’t the richest or the most well-educated. You want decency, move up to El Sobrante or Benicia. > When you are hit with a $500 deductible out of the blue, try to keep > your cool. Otherwise, I will call you a jackass too. How do you feel?

The amount of knowledge in one’s head doesn’t necessarily garauntee that they will be a person of good character. The idea that someone being "educated" makes him better in all ways (including character) compared to the average Joe is total BS. Too bad about your car. But stuff like this happens (especially in Silicon Valley where everything is getting more crowded), so just let your insurance handle it and drive on.
